On the afternoon of December 7, 2021, Yang Dongqi, Secretary of the leading Party group and director of Beijing Intellectual Property Office, led a team to Beijing Nongzhi geographical indication Research Institute for investigation and held a symposium.
The symposium was presided over by Li Changzhi, full-time vice president and executive vice president of the Institute. Li Changzhi first introduced the basic situation of the Institute. Beijing Nongzhi Research Institute of geographical indications was established in October 2019. The business competent unit is Beijing Intellectual Property Office and the registration authority is Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau. It is the only professional social organization for geographical indication research in China. The scope of business is to engage in geographical indication policy and practice investigation and research, business consultation, business training, cooperation and exchange, achievement transformation and undertaking entrustment; Organize international exchange activities of geographical indications. The Council members and expert team are composed of more than 30 well-known experts in intellectual property law, service and operation. The chairman and president are Yang Yonggang, President of Beijing geographical indication industry association, and the full-time vice chairman and executive vice president are Li Changzhi, former editor in chief of China Trademark magazine.
President Yang Yonggang reported the work achievements of the Institute in 2021, including achievements in public welfare classes, fixed-point training, subject projects, participation in legislation, standard formulation, thesis monographs, targeted poverty alleviation, forum activities, research activities, data application, publicity and promotion, Party building activities, etc. This paper introduces the conclusion of the key soft science project undertaken by the State Intellectual Property Office, as well as the feasibility, logic and structural design of the separate legislation of geographical indications involved in the project. It also introduces the work plan for 2022.
Hu Hanjing, director of the Standardization Working Committee of the Research Institute and former senior director researcher of the China Institute of standardization, reported the progress of the formulation of standards related to geographical indications, and interpreted the discussion draft of group standards of the Beijing list of key geographical indications protection to the leaders of the Bureau.
Yang Dongqi, Secretary of the Party group and director of the Beijing Intellectual Property Office, affirmed the work achievements of the Institute and gave guidance and arrangements for the next work of the Institute. He pointed out that based on the functional orientation of the capital, we should do a good job in the training, education, investigation and research of geographical indications in Beijing, and serve the geographical indication industry at home and abroad by participating in legislation, standard formulation, cultivation and guidance, so as to give full play to Beijing's regional advantages and the role of the think tank of the Research Institute.
Relevant responsible comrades of the intellectual property protection division, intellectual property management division and office of the Bureau, as well as the main staff of the Research Institute, participated in the research and discussion.
