On January 26, Yang Yonggang, President of Beijing geographical indication industry association (hereinafter referred to as "the association") and Li Changzhi, executive deputy secretary general, visited the China Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Liu Hua, director of the China Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), met with Yang Yonggang and his delegation and held cordial talks.

President Yang Yonggang first introduced the basic situation of the association, the main work carried out and the future development direction. Beijing geographical indication industry association is jointly initiated and established by COFCO and more than 30 legal entities in the geographical indication industry engaged in production, sales, operation, publicity and service. In recent years, the association has actively organized professional training in the field of geographical indications, deeply participated in the legislation of geographical indications, carried out research and research, and popularized policies, regulations and professional knowledge, which has been widely recognized by the industry. He said that as an important international organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization has made outstanding contributions to promoting the protection of intellectual property rights and encouraging innovation and creation all over the world. In recent years, more and more Chinese enterprises have strengthened the international protection of intellectual property rights through the convenient registration system and perfect service platform of wlpo, which has laid a good foundation for Chinese enterprises to go global and participate in international competition. He hoped that in the future, wlpo China office would further support the association's work in standard setting, publicity and training, and make efforts to promote the international protection of geographical indications in China.

Director Liu Hua welcomed Yang Yonggang and her delegation. She first introduced the development process, existing service system and future key development direction of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). She pointed out that intellectual property is endless wealth. WIPO has created five systems: policy system, registration system, database system, platform system and WIPO college to continuously promote the all-round development of intellectual property, so that everyone in the political, business and academic circles can benefit from this knowledge treasure house. She said that in the future, wlpo will focus on the promotion of the treaty system, the promotion of the existing service system, major activities and media promotion in China. In the future, wlpo will also focus on telling the story of intellectual property, building a dynamic and future oriented intellectual property ecosystem, improving service level and the construction of IP strategic house. In addition, she also hopes that the association can play a role in the formulation of geographical indication rules in China and promote the early implementation of the Lisbon system in China.
