Lu'an is a major agricultural city and a national key commodity grain production base. It is rich in more than 110 kinds of famous and special agricultural and sideline products. Dabie Mountain is known as "Xishan medicine bank", with a total of 203 families and 1360 species of medicinal plants, of which Dendrobium huoshanense, Anhui Fritillaria, duanxuexue, Poria cocos, Gastrodia elata, Ganoderma lucidum, Ginkgo biloba and American ginseng have been developed on a certain scale.
As early as 2002, the first geographical indication trademark "Lu'an Guapian" was registered. By the end of 2016, Lu'an had 35 geographical indication trademarks registered (including 34 agriculture related trademarks). The total amount ranks first in Anhui Province, accounting for 34.65% of the province.
Jinzhai is well-known as the "hometown of chestnut" in China. There are 500000 mu of chestnut gardens with an annual output of more than 30000 tons of chestnut. The area, number of plants and output of "Jinzhai chestnut" rank first in the province and in the forefront of the country. It was awarded the "hometown of national economic chestnut" in 1994. In March 2011, the Party committee and government of Jinzhai County put the application for the geographical indication certification trademark of "Jinzhai chestnut" on the important agenda. In October 2013, it was approved to register. "Jinzhai chestnut" became the first geographical indication certification trademark of Jinzhai County, realizing a zero breakthrough in the registration of geographical indication certification trademark. Subsequently, 25 geographical indication certification trademarks such as "Jinzhai Gastrodia elata", "Jinzhai Ganoderma lucidum", "Jinzhai camellia oil" and "Jinzhai silk" were successively applied for and successfully registered, making a breakthrough. At present, there are 27 geographical indication certification trademarks, ranking first in the number of landmarks at the county level in Anhui.

Since the "Huoshan Huangya" geographical indication certification trademark was registered and used in 2002, the average price of tea has increased from 30-40 yuan per kilogram more than ten years ago to 300-400 yuan per kilogram at present. The average income of tea farmers has increased by more than 2000 yuan per household than ten years ago. Local tea farmers are full of confidence and pride in the geographical indication of "Huoshan yellow bud". Enriching the people with trademarks makes more and more tea farmers realize the importance of brands and trademarks. More than 100000 tea farmers and merchants in Huoshan County are engaged in tea production, processing and sales, and the income of tea has accounted for more than 35% of the income of farmers in mountainous areas. Tea has really become a "cash cow" for people in mountainous areas.
Since the registration and use of the "Shucheng xiaolanhua" geographical indication certification trademark, the price has increased from 65 yuan per kilogram before registration to 220 yuan per kilogram, with an increase of 238%. It has increased the income of farmers by 3600 yuan every year and benefited more than 6000 farmers, becoming the main source of income for local tea farmers.
After "Jinzhai ginger" applied for geographical indication trademark, Jinzhai County Agricultural Technology Extension Center unified packaging, and the price increased by 2.5 times than before, which promoted the development of ginger industrialization, directly led more than 3000 farmers to plant ginger, and the per capita income increased by 20000 yuan, which is the main way for farmers in mountainous areas to get rid of poverty and get rich.
Driven by the brand effect of geographical indications, "Huoshan Dendrobium" has become an important source of farmers' family income in Taipingfan Township, Huoshan County. According to statistics, there are 4000 mu of commodity bases dominated by Dendrobium huoshanense in the county, with an annual output of more than 10000 tons. The price has increased from 40 yuan per gram to 100 yuan per gram, an increase of 2.5 times, and the output value has reached 600 million yuan. The planting covers 500 households in the county, bringing an increase of 40000 yuan to farmers every year.
After the registration and use of the geographical indication trademark of "Lu'an melon slices", which is famous all over the country, the price generally increased by 33.33%, and the annual income of each farmer increased by 12000 yuan, benefiting more than 20000 farmers and driving more than 60000 people to get rich.
Protect characteristics, and geographical indications can be evergreen
